Although the blue painted T.P.S. Oval VW tin VW body has minor scrapes, paint crazing and rust chips, it is actually in somewhat good condition. Now all of the little metal accent parts like the windshield frame, hood trim, bumpers, hubcaps, friction motor and axles are heavily rusted, oxidized, and pitted. This first look impression, gives the Oval VW, a rusty beater toy and who would want this for a collection? I see the T.P.S. Oval VW as a “diamond in the rough” and would like to bring the life back into it. I decided to just give it a really good cleanup, taking everything all apart on the Oval VW, and just using some proven cleanup techniques and best practices to bring back the life into this 1950s era Oval Window VW similar to the original condition?
