TOY NOMURA Co., Tokyo, Japan was founded in 1923 and used a trademark of T.N inside a diamond. In the 1950's and 1960's they were of the largest toy manufacturers of Japan. In 1993, the company was bought by HASBRO, Inc. TOY NOMURA, like many other Japanese toy manufacturers, produced toys for the USA market and used the toy importer CRAGSTAN, based in New York.

A very nice tin plate Volkswagen Convertible with the top down. Tin body painted and there are metal trim pieces that include headlights, VW hood emblem, side trim and door handles. The tin windshield with plastic insert and a metal folded down top attaches to the body. The interior has a lithograph design detailing the dashboard and door panels. Plastic seats and steering wheel finish off the details. The tin chassis with tin bumpers is painted black and has an electric motor with rubber tires and metal hubcaps. The rear deck lid is clear plastic for viewing the lithographed fan shroud and a clear motor with the four little pistons going back and forth as the VW car moves. There is a battery compartment for two “C” cell batteries and a gear shift for forward and reverse direction (there is also a version without gear shift!). There is manual steering and also the battery illuminates the engine compartment.
