Many of the highest quality Japanese tin toys were distributed by the ASAHI Trading Company (ATC) of Taito Ku, Tokyo, but not necessarily manufactured by the ASAHI Trading Company. For example, some original boxes for the toys are printed with the ASAHI name and logo. There is also another logo on the box representing the actual manufacturer of TSUBAME TOYS (swallow bird silhouette), Tokyo, Japan.
A three section tin VW Bus with 13 cut out windows painted a two-tone green, black/red and grey/black colors. There are seam line of the doors, raised door handles and side air louvers. The rear barn door hood has stamped a license plate indentation and handle. Metal trim pieces include headlights, front VW emblem and only the front bumper. The separate chassis, stamped MADE IN JAPAN, has a friction motor, rubber tires with metal hub caps and a friction motor. TSUBAME also produced an Oval Window VW Sedan (Oval Window Toys (OW) TSUBAME).
