This very large and unusual VW Pickup Bus is about 30 centimeters long and made entirely of a very brittle plastic. There cannot be many around since the toy is fragile and easily broken when dropped or played rough by a child. Describing the details, we begin from the bottom of the toy and work our way up. The chassis is made of gray plastic, affixed to the body with four small metal screws. A metal friction motor drives the front wheels. The unique shape of the chassis appears to be emulating a pair of cylindrical fuel tanks, one on each side. This same chassis was also used on the PINPLAST Oval Window VW with remote control and the 4 “C” type battery fit in the cylinders inside. The rear of the chassis has the shape of a rear wheel drive differential housing formed into it, so they were not trying to mimic the VW driveline by any means. The wheels are hard black plastic with painted on silver hubcaps, mated to the chassis with a pair of hefty metal axles.

Moving on to the body, it is made up of a red V-front cabin glued to a green lower body section. The bumpers headlights and taillights are separate pieces glued to the body. There is no evidence of window glazing and the cab has no rear window opening. The interior consists merely of a bench seat – no dash panel or steering wheel. In front where the VW logo would be there is a diamond shape with a cross through it molded into the plastic. In the bed of the truck there are two wheel housings sticking up, indicating that the designer probably did not have access to a one to one version for comparison. Centered in the very back of the bed are the letters “JT” within a circle. Recently, it has been noted that the JT Toy Company  in Argentina may have been the original manufacturer and then later PINPLAST acquired the molds. On the other hand one of the original boxes state FABRICANTES UNIDOS ("united manufacturers): is it a joint venture?
