The third version of the CKO VW Bus has details indicating a 1968 to 1970 production era. With the change to a bay window, there are also added refinements including a detailed stamped metal interior in orange and black (light yellow in the PU), plus clear plastic front windows and a black plastic steering wheel. The side printing has been changed to "Notruf 40 200" (or emergency number) on the ambulance, and the friction drive has been moved to the rear wheels.
In the 1990s a special replica of the CKO VW Bay Window Bus was offered in limited quantity of 50 pieces to advertise for "German Air Sucker Society" or GASS, the "Voice of the Enthusiast" Volkswagen magazine. The model is very well done with a full three rows of bench seats in the interior, as well as printing on the sides, roof and rear license plate.
