TIPP&CO was founded in 1912 in Nürnberg, Germany, by Mr. Carstens and Mrs. Tipp. In the 1930's the owners had to flee Germany and the company was confiscated. Only in 1949, the company was given back to its legal owners and the rebuilding of the TIPP&CO factory, destroyed in WWII, had begun.

Nice stamping of a KdF Wagen VW tinplate body with cut out windows, door seams, tin button headlights and indented air louvers. Clockwork motor with rubber tires (early release) or metal wheels (later release) with keyhole on passenger side. Tin plate chassis with or without “GERMANY” stamping. Front wheels are fixed at a slant for left turning. This TIPP&CO KdF Wagen model had the catalogue number 924. The hole in rear fender is for a gas hose and nozzle connection from the STANDARD OIL TIPP&CO gas pump platform number 806.

TIPP&CO is also known as TIPPCO or TCO (the company insignia) in the toy industry as well.

There is a "fir tree" symbol stamped into the side of the clockwerk motor and this stamping indicates that TIPPCO acquired the motor and wheels from the well-known German mechanical specialist company, Gebrüder Bühler. The KdF Wagen TIPPCO Split VWs produced used the Gebrüder Bühler motors and in the post WWII production period switch over to Paul Weiss Laufwerk Fabrik, Germany for the motors.
