The model, believed to be produced by DEGENHARDT, Nürtigen (currently: Osann-Monzel), Germany, is a cigarette dispenser and shows a little paper tag glued to the body indicating that it was carved out of 1 piece of wood by hand (“aus einem Stück handgeschnitzt”). Usually the wood was oak but has also been seen using other types of hard wood. There is a lift-off panel on the roof of the car measuring 8 by 2,2 cm that covers a compartment where the cigarettes are to be put in. When you pull out the front bumper and then push it in again, 1 cigarette pops out at the rear bumper. The seam lines are excellent; the front lid and the rear deck lid, engine compartment air louvers under the split window, the VW emblem on the front hood and the round horn grilles in the front fenders look very well. The front hood handle is also visible and the doors show the door handles and even some door hinges. The semaphore posts are depicted as a simple cut in the wood. The rear lights are just 2 little round cut outs; the front lights show the exact details of the original! Also found with less details, no semaphores and different bumpers, etc.
