In 1881 the GAMA Company was founded by Georg Adam Mangold in Fürth, Germany. GAMA was one of the first companies after the war to be allowed to produce toys again. They set up production in an old military barracks. GAMA produced this metal version V2 of the Split window Volkswagen from 1948-53 and was stamped “GAMA - MADE IN US ZONE GERMANY.”

This pair of GAMA Split VWs were found in a rusty, dented and well played with condition by Jozsi Toth (of this VW web site). They were in an undesirable state that collectors were not interested in them as collectable. The GAMA Split VWs went through the Restro-Version Shop and the life was brought back into them. Jozsi wanted them to have a theme to commemorate the birth of his two children. Here you have special VWs created for Britt Michelle Emma Toth, 01 April 2007 and Caspar Jozsef Xander Toth, 30 June 2008. Check out the photos.

Check out the “GAMA & KÖRA Split VW Article” on this site (under Split Window Toys (SW)) for additional information in general about the similarities between the GAMA & KÖRA Split Window VWs.
