HUKI VW BUS

In 1910, Hubert Kienberger founded HUKI, Kienberger & Co., Nürnberg, Germany. They mainly produced Penny Toys and animals on wheels. Before WWII, they used the brand name KiCo, which was later altered into HUKI. In 1943 the Company was destroyed by a fire and only in 1951 production was restarted. Huki ceased to exist in the second half of the seventies. Huki always produced tin toys and were too slow to ramp up their production to more plastic cars & toys like many other manufacturers. This caused their downfall. They had developed new toy models, including some plastic, until the late sixties; in their last decade (or less) they only produced from their old molds.

A HUKI toy catalogue from the late 1950s shows a VW Transporter Bus on the front cover. It was produced in plastic, with a removeable top and included a friction motor. The catalogue reference states No. 110/1 HUKI Plastik VW Bus mit Friktion. Perhaps someday we will be able to find such a HUKI VW Bus and have some photos for this listing?
