Founded in 1951, the MANSEI Toy Company often used the trademark ‘HAJI’ lettering within an oval. MANSEI was a relatively small Japanese toy maker and was based in Kotobuki, Taito-ku, Tokyo and concentrated its production output on tinplate vehicles but occasionally produced other metal and plastic toys as well. MANSEI is not known to have produced toys after 1970.

The body and chassis made of plastic with removable roof to expose a battery box for the electric motor. Rear wheel drive with rubber tires and metal hubcaps. The front of the bus has excellent details, but the length is a little short. The rear of the VW Bus looks more like a Greyhound Bus with a radiator panel and an on-off switch. Side panels have "School Bus" decals and the windows are green tinted plastic inserts. The VW Bus has steerable front wheels and is believed to run on some sort of roadway set.
