This toy was a promotional item produced (possibly) by the company of Georg Zimmermann from Zirndorf, Germany. It was established in 1880 and seized to exist in 1972. Little is known about this company. They traditionally produced tintoys also as well as coinboxes, but also many tin household appliances, celluloid mirrors and possibly plastic toys.

Plastic Split VW with solid windows and details of the doors, windows, front and rear deck lids. The front fenders have indented headlights. There is a front hood handle and the old style (post WW2) era VW hood emblem. Under the rear split window, there are indentation of 9 air louvers. The body has molded the front and rear bumpers with guards.

There is no chassis and the plastic axles and wheels are like snapped attached to the body. There are 2 versions known to exist: a marked and an unmarked body.

The marked body has inside the roof area the raised ZIMMERMANN lettering. The plastic body has a white-wash to highlight the contours of the Split VW Beetle and the roof is labelled “SEITZ Kempten”. The toy was produced for the Seitz company in Kempten, Germany, who was and still is a large Volkswagen dealership.

The unmarked had no lettering whatsoever.
