BAYERWALD KARTONAGEN & SPIELEFABRIK

The BAYERWALD KARTONAGEN & SPIELEFABRIK was established in the late 1940’s or very early 1950’s by Wilhelm Stiehler in the town of Chamerau im Bayrischen Wald, Bavaria, Germany. They produced several board games. In 1960, Kaspar Stiehler (son of the founder and owner of the company) became mayor of Chamerau and consequently sold his company to Walter Aulfes. Walter Aulfes expanded the production into paper office supplies and also plastic chess figurines and chess boards. In the early 1980’s the company went into bankruptcy.

BAYERWALD KARTONAGEN & SPIELEFABRIK produced this board game named Die LUSTIGE AUTOREISE (The Funny Road Trip) in the early 1950s. The game box has a very colorful artwork painting (30cm X 20cm) on the cover depicting a 1950s era Volkswagen and two Borgward Hansa vehicles. There is nothing inside the game set that has anything to do with VWs.
